3 Essential Back-to-School Tips for Arizona Kids

The days of chanting, “No more teachers, no more books,” are quickly coming to an end as our Arizona students inch closer and closer to a new school year. As the new school year begins there are a few things we can do as parents and caregivers to ensure kids have a smooth start and a great experience. Here are 3 essential back-to-school tips for Arizona kids.

Ease back into school routine
Summertime in Arizona is a time to relax and enjoy the pool.  So in order to begin the new school year ready to learn, parents should help their kids get back into regular bedtime and wake-up routines. Starting this one to two weeks before school can help make the transition of returning back to school easier for students.

Turn off the TV.

Did you find the TV on more than usual this summer? That’s not unusual this time of year. But now’s a great time to start encouraging your child to play quiet games, do puzzles, flash cards, color, or read as early morning activities instead of watching television. This will help ease your child back into the learning process and school routine. Cutting back on TV can help your child arrive at school better prepared to learn each morning.

Connect with friends.
Got a child that’s nervous about returning to school? Reach out and make some connections so they’ll have a friendly face to accompany them on their first day back to school. You might try calling parents from last year’s class and finding out which children are in your child’s class this year. Refresh these relationships before school starts by scheduling a play date or a school carpool.

The streets will be lined with school busses and your child will be racing off to school before you know it. So start implementing these 3 essential back- to- school tips for Arizona kids and help them start their school year off bright! – Frank
